Nicole Camille Richie (born September 21, 1981) is an American actress, author, socialite, celebutante, singer, and television personality. The adopted daughter of soul singer Lionel Richie, she is perhaps best known for her role in the Fox reality television series The Simple Life, alongside fellow socialite and best friend Paris Hilton. She has a daughter, Harlow Winter Kate Madden with boyfriend Joel Madden of Good Charlotte, and together they are expecting a second child.

Adopted by singer Lionel Richie, Nicole Richie grew up in privileged L.A. society, where her playmates included hotel heiress Paris Hilton. In 2003, the pair starred in the reality show, The Simple Life. After arrests and problems with drugs, Richie found herself in rehab.
